Today was the 4th of July, American Independence day. I got to celebrate with Sam and her family. We watched the fireworks, sat around the fire pit and finally made s'mores. I wish we could do this every day! I hope you all had a fun and safe 4th of July as well. You can see more pictures of our celebrations on the slideshow page.

We had given Gully a couple of days to settle down and he was doing great. Emma said I could ride him in the arena. I tacked him up and led him to the arena. He was a little fresh but very willing.
I just did a little walk and trot and went over a few trot poles. He has such a floaty trot! I am going to have so much fun with him. After a long, boring, very cold winter, Spring is finally here! We celebrated by taking a short hack where we found several yummy chocolate eggs! I can't believe we have had the hens for a whole year already. I think they were a bit surprised by the huge pink egg in their house!
After we recovered from eating all the eggs, we met Olivia's new project - our guests, 'Fitz' and 'Simmons' the young llamas, and 'Skye' the alpaca. Olivia also learned how to spin wool from our friend Arriety, who is hoping to be their new owner. You can see more pictures in the 'photo story' section. I hope the weather stays sunny so we can have more adventures soon. :) I am so sorry I haven't posted anything here for so long! We have had a really busy Summer and I can't wait to share my adventures with you. Sam and her family took me to the beach with them and I got to visit a western town, build a sandcastle, climb a lighthouse and even meet the famous Misty of Chincoteague. We even brought home a paint horse and his native american tack. There is a photostory on the photostories page. I made a few new friends this summer as well. I have posted a few snapshots in the gallery page. Also there are photos of my camping trip in my new caravan! Olivia and I are going to put some furniture in there so next time we go camping it will be perfect. I'll keep you posted. Enjoy! I am sorry I haven't uploaded anything lately! It's been a very snowy winter and we haven't done anything very much. The first day of Spring, however, finally brought some warmer temperatures. We went looking for an escaped pony and found an old hen house. We brought it back to the cabin and made it home to one fat hen. Now we have fresh eggs whenever we want them! It's been a really exciting couple of days here at the cabin! Yesterday Sam sent Olivia and I to help out at the farm all day so that she could work on painting the cabin. It took her all day to paint the outside. This morning even though it was snowing hard she sent us off again to help shovel, change rugs and fill water buckets. She said she would have a big surprise for us. When we got home we had not one but two big surprises! Firstly Sam had finished painting the inside of the cabin. After we had moved all the furniture back in Sam told us to go and check on Marshmallow. We found that the new stable had been delivered!! Marshmallow looked right at home. There is even another stable so that Ruth can eventually have her own pony at home as well. I can't wait until we can ride out together. It was a very busy day for Olivia. After Jinny's visit Olivia took us to the animal centre to introduce us to the kitten who had stolen her heart. A very sleepy calico named Colonel Mittens. Sam agreed that we could bring her home and Mittens made herself right at home. Olivia is so happy with her new friend. Olivia's friend Jinny came to see us today on her way to her dance lesson. It was lovely to meet her. She is so elegant. She showed us a few of her ballet moves. It's not as easy as she makes it look! Some more of our furniture came today too and Sam helped me move it all into the house. It's really starting to feel like home already. There are photos of our new furniture on the gallery page. Sam finished building the cabin today! Photos of the build will be in the slideshows section. It looks great although it is a little bigger than we all thought it would be. We decided on wooden floors and they are laid and varnished. Now we have to decide how to stain or paint the outside. First it has to stay overnight to fully dry. I can't wait to move in! My bed set came today, it looks so warm and cozy. Sam has laid it by Marshmallow's stable so that I can sleep in it tonight. |
