Oh my goodness! I have been very remiss in updating this site! I received a wonderful present from my best friend Tye in England for Christmas and I wanted to show you all how awesome it is.

Breyerfest 2015. Vive La France!
|
Every year Breyer model horses hold a big celebration called Breyerfest at the Kentucky Horse Park. Sam has been a few times and this year she invited me to go with her and her family. I was so excited! Auntie Sue made me my own Breyerfest T shirt so I looked the part. It was incredibly hot and humid and very crowded but we had a fabulous time and came home with a fair few new horses! |
Happy 4th July!!
|
Today was the 4th of July, Independence Day in America. It rained most of the day but cleared up just in time for us to finish all the yard work at the barn and tuck the ponies safely up in their boxes.
As soon as it got dark, Sam and her family headed outside to watch the fireworks in the surrounding area. I got to come too. There were so many fireworks, all around us. They were really loud but so very beautiful, every colour you can imagine. It was hard for Sam to get a photo of me with them but she managed a few. When the fireworks had died down a little we sat around the fire pit to warm up. Sam said that I had to go and help her make some s'mores that we could melt over the fire. I made one all for myself. It was almost as big as me! I hope you all had a fun and safe July 4th. |
Gulliver's Travels
|
Emma brought a new pony to the farm today. His name is Gulliver's Travels or "Gully" for short. He used to belong to Emma when she was our age but when she outgrew him he was passed down to her little sister. Now she has also moved on to horses so Emma decided to brig Gully to the farm so we can ride him. He is settling down for a couple of days but then she says we can try him out. I really hope I can do eventing on him! He's such a sweet boy with impeccable manners but I bet he can really fly around a cross country course! |
Spring... Llamas?
|
Emma, the farm manager asked Olivia if we could look after her latest project for a while as they are a little nervous around a lot of horses. Of course she agreed, so we currently have some guests. A female alpaca and her two young Llama friends! They may find a adoptive home soon but in the meantime we are happy to look after them.

Happy Easter!
|
It was a beautiful early Spring morning and the sun was shining. Olivia and I decided to ignore the mud and take a ride along the lane to the farm. I rode Megan and Olivia led Snowball who is recovering from a touch of seedy toe. We soon discovered the Easter bunny had been there before us!

Ruth goes on holiday.
Sam and her family went on holiday to the beach for a few days and I persuaded Sam to take me along. We did so many exciting things! I can't wait to go back.
A very happy early birthday
Where I get the best birthday present ever!
A mischievous mare and a Spring chicken.
It was the first day of Spring and a search for a mischievous mare on the hunt for new grass proves very exciting!
Olivia's wish come true.
Olivia had been begging Sam for a kitten for as long as she could remember. She loves cats almost as much as I love horses. She takes care of the cats and kittens at the animal centre but it was only recently that one of them has stolen her heart. A sleepy calico named 'Colonel Mittens'. After Jinny's visit she took us to the centre to meet her.
Our first visitor!
Olivia's friend Jinny came to see us today.
Cabin Fever
Our cabin arrived and Sam built it over the past few days. It was a lot of work and is a lot bigger than we were all expecting but it looks lovely. Now it has to dry and be stained or painted and then we can move in.
My first ride on Marshmallow
Today Marshmallow and I go on our very first proper ride! It was amazing!
Welcome home Marshmallow!
Sam had been busy with a surprise for me. Soon my lifelong dream was going to be a reality.
Meeting Marshmallow
I have always loved horses and ponies and have read everything I could get my hands on about them. My workbooks at school always had a drawing of a horse somewhere on them and I galloped all over the place on my imaginary stallion! Olivia said that there was a pony at the centre where she helped out that was looking for a loving new home. Mynydd Marshmallow is a 11.2hh Welsh Section A gelding. We think he is about 15 years old. He was rescued from a field with an injury to his nose which required a skin graft. Oliva has been looking after him and told me how sweet and gentle he is. Sam agreed that we could go and see him and if I liked him then once our stable is built I could bring him home! Olivia agreed that she would help me look after him and teach me everything I needed to know. So this morning after a quick stop at the saddlery I set off to meet him.
A trip to the Saddlery
I am going to meet Marshmallow today, the pony Olivia is going to introduce me to at the animal rescue centre she helps out at. If I like him then I might be able to bring him home. In any case I am going to need some riding clothes and a hat so I can help out there too. Sam said she would take me to the saddlery.
Welcome home Ruth!
This is the story of how I arrived home. Please excuse my near nudity!
